Your Board of Trustees
has sincerely and extensively examined all of the many reasons for and against rebuilding our Sanctuary and Youth Education
building in phases. They received wonderful input from the professionals and the teams that have been leading our program
forward. After much prayer and true seeking for God’s guidance, they unanimously agreed that the project should be completed
as a single unit. Completing both buildings at the same time has many advantages and it will present us with new challenges
as well.
With the generous financial commitments you have made to our Love in Action program, we will have the funds to pay for half of the project close to the time construction is completed. That means one of the
buildings—our renewed light-filled Sanctuary, all on one level with a new entrance; or our Youth Education building
with its expanded fellowship room, teen room, new kitchen and office space—will already be paid for. We intend to take
out a mortgage that will cover the cost of renovation for the other building. Our new play structure is already up and paid
for.
Annual Membership Meeting, October 26, 2008, 1:00 PM
At our Annual Membership Meeting
we will have the opportunity to approve or disapprove our entering into the mortgage that will empower us to complete this
exciting program. This is an important meeting and we urge you to come and bring your wisdom as we prepare to take
this next step.
Our plans are before the City of Walnut Creek for approval and we anticipate that construction will begin in April.
We are exploring a number of options for housing our many activities during construction and will be sharing those possibilities
with you at the meeting.
We will also be selecting new trustees for our board and catching up on the many other wonderful past and future
activities of our Center.
Town Hall Meeting, October 12, 2008, 12:30 PM
We are holding a
Town Hall Meeting two weeks before our Annual Membership Meeting. We know many of our people would like to have information
in advance about the question of approving the mortgage, as well as information on updated construction plans and goals. We
thought a Town Hall Meeting would be a great way to accomplish that. We will not be voting. We will be sharing information,
listening to your ideas and doing a lot of question and answers. We invite you to come and explore all the information before
voting on it two weeks later at the Annual Membership Meeting.
